Visit Central Park
Central Park is the number one spot for any dwellers living in the city to get a bit of greenery from the concrete jungle of New York. It’s an incredible place that has seen many proposals and movies filmed there.
It’s a great expanse of space that takes up a lot of the Upper West and Upper East Sides of Manhattan. Despite its size, it’s only the fifth largest park in the entirety of New York.
It’s a great place to go if you want to enjoy a picnic in the park and want to spend as little money as possible. It’s a free area to enjoy and is definitely a great spot to enjoy in the summer. Love a sunbathe? Then this place is a go-to for those that want to soak up the sun.
Take a trip to the Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is one of the many places that is featured in the movies, amongst other locations. In reality, the size of the monument is not as big as these movies would lead you to believe but it is big nevertheless.
There’s a ferry – obviously – required in order to get to and from the statue and once you’re there there’s not a huge amount to do. However, it’s a great spot to take photos and to view the New York landscape from ground level and from a distance.
See Times Square
Times Square is a must-visit for those that love a tourist hotspot. This is a place in the city that is typically busy throughout the day and evening. If you’re not a fan of crowds, try not to visit it at typically peak times in the day.
To get a good view and experience of this location, try going early in the morning. The huge advertising screens really do take up the entirety of the area and it’s a wonderful, bustling spot that you could simply watch and observe for hours.
View the city from an observation deck
Talking of observing, make sure to see the city from high up above. There are numerous observation decks available around the city with the most popular and iconic one being the Empire State Building. There’s also Top of The Rock which is also worth visiting.
When you come to these observation decks, make sure to book in advance so that you can secure a good timeslot. It’s also worth seeing the city from this height both in the day and evening. The best observation decks in New York should be researched before booking.
Hop-on hop-off buses
To help see everything and anything that the city has to offer, it’s worth going on the hop-on, hop-off buses that drive around the city every day. It’s definitely worth paying for as it can help you get from one part of the city to another. Most offer open-top levels too that can be helpful to view all parts of the city on your travels.
Experience a Broadway show
A Broadway show is a great way to enjoy the talents that New York’s inhabitants have to offer. There’s always something on and available that’s worth seeing. If you’re new to a Broadway show, then make sure you get recommendations.

Observe the Grand Central station
For those that want to watch the world go by, there’s no better place than to go – Grand Central Station. A spot where the hustle and bustle are encapsulated in a station. It’s a beautiful station too so well worth seeing.
