Plan Well in Advance

You probably know how difficult it can be to organise a dinner with your extended family. Now how about a big trip? That can be even more difficult. People do, after all, have busy lives, and it’s not as if they can just drop everything and go on a week-long jaunt. So be sure to consult with everyone, and pick dates that are far into the future. We’re talking around six months to a year in advance of the trip. No-one will have any excuses for not coming!

Different Needs

You can choose your friends based on your interests, but you can’t choose your family. As such, it’s important to go into the organisation of this trip with a consideration for the different needs of all members of the travelling group. You might love nothing more than going on a long hike when you’re on holiday, but perhaps your retirement-age auntie would struggle. When it comes to picking the destination and the type of things you’ll do while you’re there, think of what will work best for the group.

Logistical Matters

The trip is going to eventually be all about having fun together, but you’ll have to organise a lot before you get to enjoy all that the holiday will provide. As such, look at organising the logistical issues as early as possible. This will involve finding accommodation that can comfortably sleep all of you, and also arranging a coach hire to get you there. Once the essentials have been taken care of, you’ll be able to think about all the fun things that you’re going to do!

The Right Amount of Time

Take some time to think about the right length of the trip. You should go for long enough that you have a chance to really sink into all the pleasures of enjoying each others’ company, but don’t go for too long. It’s always important to leave wanting a little more!

Go With the Flow

Families can be annoying at times, there’s no denying it! When it comes to your trip, be sure to go with the flow, and accept all that happens. It’s not about any single member of the family, but about the clan as a whole having a great time.
