Tips For Booking A Last Minute Trip Away To Make It Stress Free

Book your holiday from work ahead of time

First on our list of top tips for booking a last minute trip away is the most important – book your holiday from work well in advance. There is nothing worse than finding the best deal for specific dates and not being able to go because work won’t let you have the time off. Ensure you pick some dates and book these off, then when it comes to searching for last minute holiday deals, you know you can definitely go on them on those dates.

Ensure you know how you’ll get to the airport on the day

There’s no point booking and planning an amazing holiday then not being able to get to the airport on the day. Whether you need to ask someone for a lift, get quick temporary car insurance on a friend’s car to drive that, or get a train, ensure you’re prepared ahead of time. If you’re relying on public transport be sure to give yourself plenty of time on the day in case of cancellations or delays.

Track flights to get the best price

There are many services out there that allow you to check the prices of flights and you can put alerts on to ensure you’re notified when there’s a price change. This allows you to book at the time when it’s the best price and save money. By having your dates booked in, but not your destination you can keep an eye at which destination offers the best prices.

Don’t book too late

While booking a last minute trip away, it’s important you do it “last minute” to get the best deals, but if you leave it too long, you could end up missing out on the best places. It’s suggested (though not proven) that the cheapest time to book a last-minute, seven-night holiday is three weeks before you plan to go and for a short break (such as three nights) the best time is four weeks before you would like to depart.
