There’s a lot of bad press about Valentines Day. This notion that it’s a commercial holiday that forces couples to fork out money on chocolates and flowers that they wouldn’t usually buy any other day of the year. The truth is you don’t need a day to show the person you love that you love them, however if there ever is a occasion to truly spoil your other half then Valentines is the one. And Valentines Day at the Ivy is a sure way to do it.

Classic features such as the harlequin stained glass windows, green leather banquettes, wood, mirrors and art all remain but have been polished off with a modern touch. Executive chef Gary Lee has pioneered a menu that includes seasonality if nothing else. Naturally the classics such as the Ivy’s shepherds pie is still there but a gradual change in people’s taste has been taken in account when incorporating new dishes onto the menu. The Asian section of the menu has grown with salads and vegetables becoming more prolific and the ‘sea and shells’ part of the menu has expanded due to a growing demand for all things shellfish related. Remember it’s Valentine’s Day so sharing is obligatory, don’t feel bad about eating half of your partners food – just as long as you don’t feed it to each other. The same high quality standard of service at the Ivy remains because certain things don’t need any adjusting.

The Private room.
If dining at the Ivy wasn’t romantic enough for you additionally they have recently redesigned their private room, fashioned by Martin Brudnizki complete with plush soft furnishings and stunning decor. Despite the redesign it still plays homage to the Ivy’s roots with it’s stained glass windows and oak panels. Also, music is still high up on the agenda with its baby grand piano tucked away in the corner and a jazz quartet that may used for special events upon request. With pieces of contemporary art on display and the new and improved bar area, the private room exudes understated elegance, bound to impress anyone you take inside. With capacity to accommodate up to 60 people and with special menu’s it’s the perfect venue to entertain any special occasion. Perhaps for engagements…
