Bramble Cocktail

The Bramble cocktail is a simple yet tasty evening drink. A classic cocktail created by Dick Badsell in the 1980s, it’s enjoyed shaken on the rocks while socializing with a friend or loved ones. This recipe uses Creme de Cassis but you can adapt the recipe by using Creme de Mure as a replacement.

Ingredients

  1. 100g Caster Sugar
  2. 100ml Dry Gin (We used Tanqueray No10)
  3. 50ml Lemon Juice – Freshly Squeezed if possible
  4. 25ml Creme de Cassis (We used Tescos finest)
  5. 2 Blackberries
  6. 2 lemon zest

Method

1In a saucepan add 50g caster sugar, 50ml water and heat until the sugar has dissolved – do not boil. Once dissolved remove from the heat and pour in the remaining caster sugar, stir until dissolved. Strain into a jar and leave to cool.

2Pour 100ml gin, 50ml lemon juice, 25ml of the syrup into a shaker and fill halfway with crushed/cubed ice. Shake.

3Strain into 2 tumblers filled with ice and drizzle the Creme de Cassis over the top so it trickles through the ice. Finish by garnishing with a blackberry and lemon zest.
