Your 2019 Summer Guide to London – top things to get up to this year…
London is a hub of activity all year round, but particularly in the summer months when the sun is shining and the city is buzzing with visitors. However, that sometimes makes deciding what to do an overwhelming task! So, we’ve decided to make things a bit easier for you by selecting a few of our highlights in the world of music, theatre and sport in this 2019 Summer Guide to London.

Music
July sees the world’s greatest classical music event, BBC Proms, opening at the Royal Albert Hall. It runs for eight weeks with a number of affordable concerts that culminate in the legendary Last Night performances.
If classical music isn’t your thing, then London has a multitude of music festivals. Indie music fans should look into Citadel which has the likes of Bastille and Friendly Fires headlining. For drum and bass, head to Creamfields for a lineup including Chase and Status, Annie Mac and Calvin Harris. All Points East is perfect if you love stadium-fillers like The Chemical Brothers and The Strokes, or check out Boomtown Fair for The Streets, Lauryn Hill and plenty of DJ sets around venues in Winchester.
Theatre
London’s West End has long been popular with tourists, and it’s no wonder why with its incredible summer season for 2019. Here are a few of our top theatre picks:
- ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, starring Sheridan Smith, is on at the London Palladium throughout the summer.
- ‘Tree’, which is co-created and soundtracked by ‘Luther’ star Idris Elba, is on at the Young Vic.
- Towards the end of the summer, ‘Fleabag’ by Phoebe Waller-Bridge is returning to London at Wyndham’s Theatre following its hugely successful BBC series. Plus, critically-acclaimed ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is on at the Noël Coward Theatre in Covent Garden from the 29th October.
Sport
Sports fans are spoilt for choice, with so many events that it’s impossible to list them all in our 2019 Summer Guide to London! 2019 sees a summer of cricket in London, with the ICC Cricket World Cup tournament at Lord’s Cricket Ground and The Kia Oval. This sees the world’s top international teams going head to head, including hosts England, reigning champions Australia, India, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan.
