Get Your Dutch Courage at the Double Dutch Speakeasy at Westfield Stratford

Date:

You’ve heard of Dutch courage, but you’ve never seen it like this before – the Double Dutch Speakeasy Westfield…

The Double Dutch speakeasy Westfield Stratford is the best place to discover the new gourmet tonic brand, brought to you by twins Joyce and Raissa de Haas. Hailing from the Netherlands – the birthplace of gin – the twins are no stranger to a good gin and tonic. But most people believe it’s the choice of gin that makes the drink. With Double Dutch, Joyce and Raissa plan to change that, by making punters think as hard about the tonic they choose as the gin that goes into it.Double Dutch Speakeasy Westfield

To celebrate the arrival of Double Dutch tonics at Waitrose, the brand is hosting a pop-up speakeasy behind a secret door on the lower ground floor of Westfield Stratford – a hop, skip and a jump from Waitrose. Visitors should seek out the black cat door, referencing the illicit Black Cat Bar of prohibition San Fran. To enter, guests must say the secret password, “Show me the Hi-vag-ide A-vag-wa-vag-ay” (show me the Hide Away in Double Dutch).Double Dutch Speakeasy Westfield

The small batch tonics produced by Double Dutch are inspired by the home-mixed beverages once concocted by Joyce and Raissa in their student days. With signature cups like cucumber & watermelon and pomegranate & basil, as well as classic serves including Indian tonic water and ginger ale, the scrumptious mixers taste great on their own or as part of a classic G&T.Double Dutch Speakeasy Westfield

The Double Dutch speakeasy Westfield offers a range of delicious cocktails curated by world class bartenders Chris Dennis and Jo St Clair-Ford, of Sovereign Loss and Callooh Callay fame. Running until the end of February the bar will also be hosting a range of interactive events, including ‘Drinks at Home Masterclasses’. From Tom Collins to Martinis, attendees will be taught everything they need to know about making cocktails. Visitors can also shop a selection of craft gins at the bar and take home all the ingredients they need to create the perfect serve at home.
