3 Ways To Decorate A Bathroom To Ensure It Doesn’t Just Look Like A White Box

Bathrooms have traditionally been seen as a functional room. More than anything else, you’re in there to take care of business and stay clean. That’s why a lot of bathrooms can come on the smaller side, or when you first step inside, look like nothing more than a simple white box.

If that’s the kind of bathroom look you want to avoid, we’re here to help you decorate! A plain and whitewashed bathroom is the standard in many houses, but it’s a boring and rather clinical look that doesn’t make you feel really all that comfortable. That’s why bringing more texture and colour to the space is crucial for a true sense of cosiness.

If you’re worried your bathroom is overwhelmingly white, we’ve got the tips for you!

Lay Some Bathroom Rugs

Bathroom rugs have long been the decor choice of homeowners trying to make their bathroom less boring, as they’re great on the feet when you’ve just stepped out of the bath or shower. They’re also a lot warmer to step on when you’re getting ready first thing in the morning!

But don’t just put one rug in your bathroom. Get a set that’s been specially made for the room, so you can carefully position one round the toilet, under the sink, and next to the bathtub or shower. Doing so will add some cohesive colour to the space and you won’t have to pay very much at all for the privilege.

Add Texture with Shower Panels

If your shower is a pretty serious non-feature at the moment, adding some texture to it with shower panels will be a quick and easy way to solve the problem. Grab some in a colour and/or design you like and apply them to the inner shower walls for a much more dynamic backdrop.

This good pop of colour will add a bit of interest to the room, even if the material is smooth to the touch, simply because it gives you something else to look at. That’s the kind of texture you want in your bathroom’s most slippery zone, with a nice fluffy and colourful rug just outside the shower door!

Spray Paint Your Tiles

Spray painting the bathroom tiles is a lovely way to add a finishing touch! You don’t need to pull off and replace any tiling, you don’t need to scrub up the grouting, and you certainly don’t need to hold up anyone who desperately needs the loo whilst you’re completing the job.

Get some bathroom-ready spray paint, put some decorator’s tape round your tiles, and then colour in every other one or every two in a line and make a pattern. It’s totally up to you, but once you’re done, you’ll have a wonderfully decorated bathroom staring right back at you.

If your bathroom suffers from the white box effect, grab yourself some new rugs, set up some panels in the shower, and apply a bit of spray paint to the wall tiles.
