For a cosy cottage hideaway in a sleepy Welsh village, look no further than The Coach at Ty Mawr…
Premier Cottages The Coach at Ty Mawr is a beautiful one-bedroom cottage tucked in Llanfrynach with a cosy simplicity that perfectly compliments the unblemished charm of the sleepy Welsh town it sits in. The outside is a rustic cobbled brick, with a sloped-grey slatted roof and duck-egg window frames. Gravel crunches underfoot as you arrive and perfectly manicured grass beds frame the outside walls. As we arrive, the air is heavy with the scent of freshly fallen rain, the sort of dampness that makes you excited to head indoors. And The Coach at Ty Mawr cottage with Premier Cottages offers the perfect reprieve from the weather.
The front room is painted in a red ochre on one wall, white on two and exposed brick on the other. It features a cast iron wood burner and the sort of sofa that begs for evenings sat curled under a fluffy throw, a hot chocolate in hand, book in your lap and the crackles of burning wood in the background. Equestrian accessories decorate the space – a nod to the village’s great horse riding heritage -including art on the walls, stirrups hanging on a hook, and horse magazines on the table. A drawer full of DVDs and a stack of board games are ideal to keep you entertained when the weather turns for the worst. The kitchen is cosy and great sized, with a white brick wall, large vintage style clock and sleek granite worktops. There are all the facilities for cooking a meal in, including a cooker, dishwasher and table to comfortably seat four.
Head up the staircase of The Coach at Ty Mawr where you will arrive at the first floor of the property. The bedroom retains the cosy, rustic feel, with a slanted, beam ceiling complete with a skylight to let the sun flood in during the day and the moon cast a silvery glow when night falls. Two cosy armchairs sit by the window where you can relax and enjoy some peace and quiet any time of day and a large, wrought-iron bed stands pride of place in the centre of the room. The bed is cosy and comfortable, with a large fluffy throw and plump cushions. The corner of the room is home to a vintage style dressing table and there is plenty of clothes storage if you’re staying for more than a night or two.
Just across the hall is the bathroom – a perfect marriage of contemporary and classic, with the same exposed brick walls, this time mixed with cream wall tiles and a sleek grey tiled floor. In here you can find a large bath, his and hers sinks and a walk-in shower. Spotlights and exposed beams line the ceiling and white fluffy towels sit on heated towel rails. Sink into a hot, bubbly bath with a glass of fizz at the end of a day exploring the countryside as the ideal way to end a day.
If you need an extra chance to relax, book an on-site massage before you arrive. This is in one of the smaller cottages just next to The Coach Ty Mawr and is a great indulgence to add to your trip away.
The cottage itself is tucked away in a sleepy village, but there is still plenty of things to do. We recommend you head to The Three Horseshoes Groesffordd for a delicious pub/ fine-dining meal, there are a whole host of walking routes you can make the most of and the Llangorse activity centre is a great day out for activities such as rock climbing and horse riding.
The Coach at Ty Mawr offers everything you could ever need in a relaxing cottage break away. It is beautifully cosy and secluded enough to feel a whole world away from the hustle and bustle, yet not so much so that you feel right out in the sticks. Spend your evenings curled up by the log burner and your days exploring the Brecon Beacons. It’s perfectly situated, perfectly presented and somewhere you’ll find yourself escaping to time and time again.
