Arm Candy for the 21st Century: Introducing the new Honor MagicWatch 2

The new Honor MagicWatch 2 is beauty with byte…

Last week we were excited to discover the new Honor MagicWatch 2 at the exclusive launch of the range in London. In the neon hue of the trendy Tanner Warehouse of Bermondsey, Honor unveiled the latest addition to its smartphone family, with a little help from some seriously talented artists.

Honor has enlisted a host of graphic design talent, from Jacky Tsai and George Greaves to Wang DongLing and Giovanni Ozzola. Together they make the limited-edition designs of the MagicWatch 2 both beautiful to behold and the ultimate hi-tech accessory. Huawei Honor MagicWatch 2

Jacky Tsai’s unique pop-art interpretation of Chinese craftsmanship is utterly fabulous, bringing a much needed splash of colour to the usual muted palettes of smartwatches. With not one, but two, stunning designs – “Floral Horse” and “Shanghai Tang Café” – Tsai brings traditional scenes from both rural and urban China to life. Huawei Honor MagicWatch 2

Among our other favourites were “The Palm Tree” by George Greaves and an anthropomorphic fish face by Pencil Bryan, AKA Xu Lei. Each conveys a dreamscape getaway, completely unexpected for the “always on” atmosphere of the digital world. Huawei Honor MagicWatch 2

But, as we know, when it comes to technology, it’s not just about the design. Gadget junkies will be glad to discover that the MagicWatch 2 packs a real punch of a spec, with a 1.39-inch full-colour AMOLED touchscreen, customisable watch faces, up to 14 days of ultra long-lasting battery life and a range of health and fitness features. The watch comes in two sizes (46m and 42mm). The 46mm is geared towards sports and performance users, while the sleeker 42mm is designed for the fashion aficionado. The Honor MagicWatch 2 from Huawei will be widely available in the UK from 12 February, starting from £149.99, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
