Looking for somewhere new to ski this season? The Ski Lodge Hotel Verbier is an effortless choice, and here’s why…
The low down:
- The Ski Lodge Verbier is a new 36-room boutique hotel opening in the centre of Verbier
- It combines understated alpine design with a destination spa, Peruvian-inspired dining and a lively bar designed for evenings after the slopes.
- Bookings opened on 28 September 2026, with the first guests arriving in December.

Set in one of Switzerland’s most famous ski resorts, the new hotel is taking a slightly different approach to the traditional ski lodge. Rather than focusing solely on what happens on the mountain, The Ski Lodge Verbier has been designed around everything that comes afterwards, from recovery and good food, to cocktails, music and somewhere comfortable to properly switch off after a busy day on the slopes.
Where is The Ski Lodge Verbier?

The Ski Lodge is located on Rue de la Poste in the centre of Verbier, around 100 metres from Place Centrale.
Its central location puts guests within easy reach of the resort’s restaurants, bars, shops and mountain transport, while the surrounding 4 Vallées ski area provides access to 410km of pistes.
For visitors arriving through Geneva Airport, the hotel is approximately two hours away by private road transfer. Alternatively, the journey can be made by train from Geneva to Martigny, followed by a connection to Le Châble and then a short taxi, bus or gondola journey to Verbier.
What is The Ski Lodge Hotel Verbier like?

The Ski Lodge is deliberately intimate, with just 36 rooms and suites. The concept is centred on what the hotel describes as understated luxury, with natural materials, warm lighting and alpine-inspired interiors rather than an overtly glamorous or contemporary aesthetic.
There is also an unusual detail in the rooms – there are no televisions. Instead, the idea is to encourage guests to disconnect from screens and spend more time enjoying the mountains, the spa, the food and the social spaces within the hotel.
The interiors take inspiration from the traditional mayens of the Valais region, combining aged larch wood, mineral textures and filtered light. London-based designer Sophie Kogevinas is responsible for the interiors, while the building was developed by Norwood.
The rooms at The Ski Lodge

There are four room and suite categories:
- 18 Cosy Rooms
- 12 Deluxe Rooms
- 4 Mountain Suites
- 2 Mountain Suite Terraces
Many of the rooms feature a bunk nook above the king-size bed, providing additional sleeping space for a third or fourth guest without turning the rooms into traditional family accommodation.
The Mountain Suites and Mountain Suite Terraces face south towards the Grand Combin and Mont-Rogneux. The Terrace category also includes a private outdoor terrace.
Across the hotel, the interiors use warm larch panelling and natural materials to create a cosy alpine feel.
The Ski Lodge Spa
Wellness is one of the central elements of The Ski Lodge Verbier. Every guest receives access to the hotel’s spa, which includes:
- Indoor swimming pool
- Cold plunge pool
- Japanese Onsen jacuzzi
- Sauna
- Hammam
- Three treatment rooms
- Fitness room
- Relaxation area
The treatment menu includes massages, facials and body therapies, while the spa is also planned to host seasonal events.
The Ski Lodge has partnered with Swiss skincare brands Alpeor and Niance, whose products will be used in selected treatments and available to purchase. Both brands use certified organic alpine plants and water sourced from the Swiss Alps, with their products made in Switzerland.
There will also be a dedicated Ski Lodge range of bathroom amenities, including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion.
The Listening Room: cocktails, wine and music
For those looking for somewhere to go after skiing, The Listening Room is the hotel’s bar serving cocktails, wine and aperitivo-style bites from early evening until late. The bar is designed to have a strong social element, with DJs playing at weekends and an atmosphere designed to extend the day beyond the slopes. Rather than being a hotel where guests simply return after dinner elsewhere, the aim is to create a place that people can visit even when they are not staying overnight.
Dining at The Peak
The Ski Lodge’s restaurant is The Peak, led by Peruvian-born chef Mario Paiva. Paiva has spent 12 years working across Peru, the United States, Bermuda, Dubai and Switzerland, including positions at properties such as The Ritz-Carlton Beach Resort, The St. Regis and W Hotels. The menu is described as having an NYC brasserie-style influence while drawing on Paiva’s wider international experience, so is a culinary experience you certainly don’t want to miss out on!
A boutique hotel built around après-ski
The concept behind The Ski Lodge is particularly focused on the hours between finishing on the mountain and going to bed.
Many ski hotels are primarily designed around the skiing itself. Here, the experience is intended to continue back at the hotel, whether that means spending time in the spa, having dinner at The Peak, listening to music and drinking cocktails at The Listening Room or simply relaxing in the room.
Founder Frédéric Mydske describes the hotel as somewhere guests can return to “for the evening as much as the morning”.
The hotel is privately owned and operated by people with connections to Verbier. Mydske grew up skiing in the resort and previously founded the Swiss aparthotel brand BASE, while General Manager Joséphine Rausis grew up in the valley below Verbier and has worked in luxury hospitality across Europe and Latin America.
A more sustainable approach to a Swiss ski hotel
The Ski Lodge has been designed with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind.
The building incorporates:
- Renewable district heating
- Photovoltaic panels
- Underfloor heating
- Engineered ventilation systems
The hotel has also achieved Minergie certification, Switzerland’s sustainable building standard, and is working towards Swisstainable certification, the country’s national sustainable tourism label.

What can you do in Verbier?
The Ski Lodge is located in Verbier, part of Switzerland’s enormous 4 Vallées ski area.
The resort has around 410km of pistes, stretching from approximately 1,500 metres in the village to 3,330 metres at Mont Fort.
Verbier is particularly well known for its off-piste and freeride skiing, with Mont Fort and the surrounding itinerary routes attracting experienced skiers from around the world. The resort’s Bec des Rosses also hosts the final of the Freeride World Tour.
However, Verbier isn’t exclusively for expert skiers. The resort has a wide range of terrain, including pistes suitable for confident intermediates and those looking to progress during a week’s skiing.
Away from the slopes, Verbier has a year-round appeal. The warmer months bring more than 500km of hiking trails, mountain biking and e-bike routes, golf and paragliding.
Is The Ski Lodge Verbier open in summer?
Yes. The Ski Lodge is designed as a year-round hotel.
It opens for the winter season from December until the end of April, before reopening for summer from early June until the end of September.
During summer, visitors can explore the surrounding mountains by foot or bike, play golf, paraglide or simply use the hotel as a base for exploring the Valais region.
Why Verbier?
One of the defining characteristics of Verbier is that it feels more like a genuine mountain town than a purpose-built ski resort.
The village developed from a farming community and received its first hotel in the early 1930s, followed by its first ski lift in 1950. It subsequently became one of the Alps’ best-known destinations, attracting an international following while retaining a relatively relaxed atmosphere.
Its combination of a lively village, serious skiing and year-round mountain activities has helped make Verbier one of Switzerland’s most recognisable alpine destinations.
The Ski Lodge fits into that environment by taking a more understated approach to luxury, focusing on the experience of staying in the mountains rather than simply providing a high-end place to sleep.

The Ski Lodge Verbier: Our take
The Ski Lodge is designed for travellers who want their ski holiday to extend beyond the hours spent on the mountain.
Its relatively small number of rooms, central Verbier location, substantial spa and emphasis on food, cocktails and music give it a distinctly social character, while the interiors take a quieter approach to alpine luxury.
With bookings now open ahead of its December 2026 opening, The Ski Lodge is set to become one of the newest boutique hotels in Verbier for the 2026/27 ski season.
