As the days get colder and the evenings get darker, its time to accept that summer is officially over and to turn our sights to more festive events. One such thing that you don’t want to miss out on is Skate at Somerset House. Returning for what is expected to be another successful year, get ready to enjoy ice skating, rink-side DJ takeovers, winter dining and a host of festive experiences.
Especially for 2021, the space will feature an expanded area to collect and return ice skates, more spaces to skate and their signature 40ft Christmas tree. Decorations will be provided from Moet & Chandon and the ultimate open air party atmosphere will be presented from Skate lates with Uniqlo.
Skating is guaranteed to make you hungry and luckily Skate at Somerset House has all you could need. Enjoy Hotel Chocolat’s chocmobile serving decadent winter treats, the Skate lounge by Moet & Chandon where you can sip on a selection of drink options and champagne cocktails.
Food wise, head to Chalet Barragiste from pop-up legend Jimmy Garcia where you can tuck into a host of winter favourites such as Game burgers, vegan fondue and smoked salmon and Moet & Chandon champagne. Ideal for sharing, the Baked Mont D’or and wine comes complete with rustic sourdough baguette, new potatoes and pickled cornichons for dipping. Inspired by Jimmy’s time spent in the Alps, it celebrates the best in festive feasting and you won’t be disappointed.
Other events include chocolate workshops, their own Skate school with a series of professional coaching sessions from the National Ice Skating Association and Chilled Out skate sessions with reduced capacity for those that are a bit nervous about heading on the ice.
Skate tickets start at £11 for adults and £7.50 for children including skate hire. Skate Lates tickets are £17 (plus booking fee) and include skate hire.
