Summer has finally arrived and it is bringing a host of things to look forward to. Yet it is also a good idea to be prepared. Here are the essential items for your bag this summer...

Sun cream

Ok, so the weather in the UK can be famously unreliable, but it’s always recommended to have some sun cream to hand. If the sun is beating down, make sure to apply to any exposed areas of skin before you leave the house, otherwise you might forget once you’re out and about. Remember to reapply at regular intervals, and be wary that the sun can still burn you even when hidden behind clouds.

Mask and hand sanitiser

Next on our list of items for your bag this summer is an important one to stay safe. Although restrictions are being lifted as the coronavirus vaccine programme continues apace in the UK, it’s still advised that we all wash our hands regularly and wear a mask in public indoor spaces. You never know when you might need to nip into a shop or onto public transport, so having a mask and some sanitiser on your person at all times makes good sense and shows your consideration for others.

Reusable water bottle

When it’s warm outside you need to make sure you stay properly hydrated, so remember to pack a water bottle that can be refilled. It’s recommended that you drink around two litres throughout the course of the day and in hotter temperatures perhaps even more. Another useful tip is to clean your reusable bottle with a bottle brush. Cleaning on a regular basis helps prevent the build-up of unwanted bacteria.

Tissues

Millions of people across the UK suffer from hay fever, and the symptoms tend to be particularly bad during the summer months when the pollen count is higher. It can be difficult to deal with, so make sure you have a pack of tissues at the ready to help with streaming eyes and a runny nose. Even if you’re not a sufferer, having some tissues handy can be useful – you never know when you might need them.

Deodorant

Sweating is an inevitable result of moving around in warmer temperatures, but it doesn’t have to prove a problem. Take some deodorant with you to keep those nasty smells away and help you stay fresh throughout the day.

These are just some of the main items for your bag this summer. Anything to add? Let us know!
