Visit Sri Lanka in 2018 for a trip of a lifetime…
With regular flights, a beautiful climate and the fact it is an island that still feels like a bit of a secret there’s never been a better time to visit Sri Lanka. Here are our top five reasons it needs to be your destination of choice in 2018…
It’s still relatively undiscovered
Sri Lanka has long been nicknamed as India’s little sister and while throngs of tourists flock to India each year, Sri Lanka is still relatively undiscovered and all the better for it. During your visit you feel you get a lot more of the authentic experience and it is yet to be spoilt by catering for tourists on every street corner. Travel round by tuk-tuk, discover new beaches and sights and enjoy the feeling of being somewhere so many are yet to have experienced.
For the nature and wildlife
Sri Lanka is a luscious island with so much wildlife to see. Take a boat tour where you can see blue whales and dolphins or don your scuba equipment and join a trip where you can dive with the impressive marine life. There are over 5,8000 wild elephants in Sri Lanka as well as the biggest concentration of leopards in the world. Head to one of the national parks or sanctuaries where you can also see animals such as bears, buffalos and zebras.
the beautiful beaches
Sri Lanka is host to so many beautiful beaches that are a far cry from tacky sand-stretched miles packed with stalls selling cheap souvenirs. Jungle beach in Unawatuna is a real hidden gem, tucked through (you guessed it) a jungle and Dickwella beach offers a really serene atmosphere for relaxing, swimming or learning about Sri Lankan lace making. The island has so many gems to explore and find, it’s a great place for discovery.
The scenic views
There are so many beautiful places to stay in Sri Lanka from beautiful villas atop a hill to new wellbeing and luxury hotels such as the Amari Galle or Tri Lanka with beautiful views and unrivaled service. Before booking your hotel decide what you want from your break and where you want to go while you are there. Why not book into a few different ones and explore the different parts of the island on your trip?
