Recent years has seen London explode with a plethora of afternoon tea’s, what used to be a traditional past time with scones, cakes and sandwiches has now been overtaken with themes, extravagance and contemporary iterations. Enter to a beautiful and airy room illuminated by the sparkling light of a Baccarat Chandelier, the melodic keys of live piano music, and the scents of a stunning central floral arrangement in the air. It’s idyllic and it’s beautiful. Your experience begins with a cold glass of Laurent-Perrier Champagne in decadent Baccarat champagne flutes while you peruse the expansive tea menu and take in the surroundings. Where London can be such a place of grey, the Crystal Moon Lounge where the afternoon tea is held, is a beautiful oasis of tranquillity, with soothing tones of beige, and cremes, colourful floral blooms and a beautiful glass ceiling.

Corinthia London Afternoon TeaOnce you have decided on a tea blend, your tea is brought over along with a selection of delicious sandwiches on hand-painted bone china by Richard Brendon. Finger sandwiches include cucumber, radish and cream cheese, egg mayo truffle and watercress, London smoked salmon with gherkins, capers, creme fraiche and spring onion and Roast beef with caramelised onion and wholegrain mustard and rocket salad. The sandwiches are delicious and fresh and the best part is that you can order as many as you like. Next up are plain and sultana scones served with a delicious rhubarb and tonka bean jam and Cornish clotted cream. You can pile on the cream and jam thickly here and the scones are beautifully light and fluffy.
