Little Explorers Afternoon Tea for curious kids launches at 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel

100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton (www.100queensgate.com), the five-star boutique hotel situated in the  heart of Kensington, is encouraging curiosity and discovery with the launch of a special ‘Little Explorers Afternoon Tea’ from 30th July. The afternoon tea, aimed at families with young children, will take children on a journey through space with a range of innovative sweet and savoury treats.

To celebrate Afternoon Tea Week (8th – 14th August 2022), each Little Explorers Afternoon Tea will also be hosted by Magician and Entertainer, Tony Middleton, who will perform bewildering magic tricks at the table to surprise and delight the children. Tony is an international award-winning magician, author and a prolific producer of magic shows known across London for his impressive and mystical talents.

The Little Explorers Afternoon Tea will be served daily from 12:30pm-4pm, from 30th July – 12th September. Following this, it will be available at weekends only. The event takes place in the hotel’s W/A Kensington Restaurant & Bar, priced at £18 per child aged 3 to 12.

Each magical plate is adorned with space-themed dishes, including:

  • Crudite ‘ROCKETS’
  • ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’ Ham and Cheese Finger Sandwiches
  • ‘SATURN’ Scones with Clotted Cream and Strawberry Jam

Savoury dishes are followed with a range of sweet treats, including:

  • ‘METEOR’ Popcorn
  • ‘COMENT’ Macarons
  • ‘ASTEROID’ Candy

The creative and visual Afternoon Tea is finished off with an ‘OUTER SPACE’ Hot Chocolate and complemented with an action packed completable place mat with fun science and space-based activities.

Each Little Explorers Afternoon Tea is available with the purchase of one adult Afternoon Tea which is priced at £46 per person or £58 per person including Champagne.

Highlights include Finger Sandwiches with a range of fillings that are locally sourced, such as:

  • Organic Turkey Breast, Wensleydale and Cranberries
  • ‘Bufford Brown’ Egg Mayonnaise and Watercress
  • Baby Cucumber, Cream Cheese and Mint

Sweet treats and baked goods produced on-site, include:

  • Paris Brest – a Choux bun with almond diplomat cream topped with flaked almonds and sugar snow
  • Apple and Wild Berry Tartlet – sweet tartlet with apple and berry compote, lemon posset topped with cream and dried raspberries
  • Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake – rich caramel cheesecake with caramel and sea salt glaze

The inventive Afternoon Tea menus were created by Executive Chef Sofiane Kaced and inspired by the hotel’s philosophy of inspiring curiosity and exploration. He has drawn on his 20 years of culinary experience to craft a creative and fun offering for children alongside a classy and refined offering for accompanying adults.

Families seeking the ultimate experience can upgrade to the Little Explorer’s Overnight Stay package. The package includes a two-bedroom interconnecting family room, breakfast for a family of up to four and each child will be gifted with a special backpack filled with goodies, including toys from the official Natural History Museum collection.

Following a restful overnight stay, families can embark on the short and scenic 10-minute walk to the popular Science Museum to fully satiate their space-filled curiosity.
