London pulled in 20.9 million overseas visitors in 2024, more than every other UK city combined and broadly back in line with its pre-pandemic peak. Now the capital has another badge for the collection: it’s home to the highest-rated casino in any of Europe’s ten most-visited cities.
That verdict comes from a new study by Casinos.com, leading experts on casino bonus offers, which set out to work out where a casino trip is actually worth the airfare. The method was straightforward. The team started with the ten most-visited cities in Europe, using Statista visitor figures, then identified the highest-rated casino in each one and ranked them by their Google review score out of five. Crucially, the scores lean on thousands of real customer ratings rather than critic opinion, so the table reflects how ordinary visitors rate the room after a night on the floor. London came out on top, with Grosvenor Casino St Giles, on the edge of the West End, scoring 4.8.
Paris followed on 4.5 through the Club Circus Paris, a 31-table room within walking distance of Roland-Garros and the Parc des Princes. Vienna’s historic Casino Baden took third on 4.4. Madrid’s Casino Gran Vía Poker Room (4.2) edged out Amsterdam’s Holland Casino (4.1), while Barcelona’s Casino Barcelona and Rome’s Slot Palace Le Palme finished level on 4.0. Athens’ Regency Casino Mont Parnes and Milan’s Casino di Campione shared 3.9, and Venice closed the list, its Casinò di Venezia, one of the oldest in the world, landing on 3.8.
A full point separates the top of the table from the bottom, which is a wide spread for venues that all sit in major tourist cities. That gap says as much about the host city as the games on offer. A 4.8 average is rare for a room the size of St Giles, and it points to service, setting and atmosphere carrying as much weight as the tables. “Nearly 21 million people visited London last year, and a night at a landmark casino has become part of the city-break itinerary, the same way a West End show or a rooftop bar has,” said one travel analyst. “The venues that score highest tend to feel like an occasion, not just a room full of machines.”
London’s momentum on the travel side isn’t slowing either. It recorded the most overnight stays of any European city in 2024, with bed nights up 5.5 percent while Paris slipped 2.8 percent, a lead that stretches well beyond the casino rankings and one the capital has held even as rivals recover.
