A round up of the top looks from the Met Gala 2017 – the good, the bad and the beautiful
Whilst May day for some means a simple bank holiday, it also signals the Met Gala 2017 – The night when stars gather on the red carpet, the legitimate “A” listers party together, and is the most premeditated event of Anna Wintour’s calendar for the past 25 years. This year the Met Gala was dedicated to the valiant efforts of the adaptable designer and the guest of honor of the night, Rei Kawakubo. She is the face behind the Japanese label Comme des Garçons and founder of the Dover street market. The last time The Met Gala theme was devoted to a living designer was in 1983 for Yves Saint Laurent. And if you ever want an invitation to one of the most prestigious events of the year, you have to have really made it.
The event took place on 5th Avenue, NY and allows spectators to spot every celebrated face you’ve ever idolised walk the prestigious red carpet. This year’s hosts (alongside Anna Wintour) were the Vogue cover girl Katy Perry and Pharrel William who did not just made the night gratifying for others but shook the red carpet with strong empowering looks. Take Katy Perry’s blood red custom drape Maison Margiela net gown by John Galliano for example.
Zendya wore an exotic tropical falling sleeve Dolce and Gabbana gown.
Blake lively wore a golden Versace couture. The highlight of the outfit was the hue of blue feathered trail which resembles a rain forest Macaw. Also don’t miss how Ryan Reynolds matched his wife with the blue bowtie!
Ruth Negga wore a turtleneck Valentino gown.
Kendall Jenner wore a La Perla dress which isn’t made of fabric but 85,000 crystals. And she certainly didn’t leave much to the imagination!
Gigi Hadid walked the carpet wearing an uneven peach outfit from her own collection of collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger.
Nicki Minaj took to the carpet in a dress from H&M.
The woman behind the event and the queen of Vogue walked in wearing a Chanel gown. What can we even say about the outfit Anna Wintour chooses for herself, it ranks above all.
