Sleep when the baby sleeps

The best time to sleep, to ensure you have a little undisturbed rest, is when the baby is sleeping. This may seem easier said than done, especially when you may feel that you have an endless list of tasks to complete. However, it is important to prioritise your mental and physical wellbeing with rest, even if it is just for 20 minutes.

Limit caffeine

Try to only drink coffee in the mornings. If you do get a chance to get an early night you want to ensure there isn’t anything limiting your sleep. Drinking caffeine later in the day will keep you alert, therefore resulting in a possible lack of sleep in the evening.

Create your ideal sleep environment

When you do get a chance to have an early night, and even when your baby is sleeping more soundly though the night, you may find it difficult to unwind and switch off. It is important to try and create a relaxing environment to help ease you into a peaceful sleep. Before bedtime ensure you are not exposing yourself to any bright lights or blue light from your phone as this will keep your eyes alert.

Use low light lamps to create a calming environment to ease you into winding down for the night. Lavender is also a great tool to help you destress and is proven to reduce stress by regulating your heart rate and breathing. A pillow mist is a great addition to your sleep routine, as the balancing blend of lavender and chamomile will help to slow your mind as you drift off to sleep. The mist additionally comes in a set with a super soft eye mask, making day-time naps easier by blocking out light.

Invest in quality rest

The weather can play a large part in the quality of your rest, especially if it’s hot. You may struggle to sleep if your duvet tog is too high for warmer weather or too low for when it’s chilly, therefore investing in seasonal duvets means you’re more likely to be at the optimum temperature for a good night’s rest, when you come to get it. Similarly, purchasing a quality pillow that is right for your individual preferences will also improve your sleep. The Silentnight V Shape Support Pillow is perfect for when the baby has arrived, this is a versatile pillow that supports the head, neck, and shoulders while additionally being a nursing pillow. Getting hold of the right products for you means that even when sleep is disturbed, you’re getting the best quality rest possible.

Get the correct baby equipment

Having the right baby equipment is vital when having a baby. In most cases, the equipment you buy can help support you in many areas of your baby’s growth – from helping with sleep, expressing milk, taking your baby out and more. When looking to buy a piece of equipment, we would advise looking into baby equipment reviews to ensure that other users have had a positive experience. With so many product on the market, you want to make sure you are getting the best one for you and your baby.
