Kitchen at Holmes Gelato Terrace is the Ideal Summer Spot in the City

Finding the perfect place to escape the heat in London isn’t easy, which is why I was so pleased to discover the Kitchen at Holmes terrace. The ideal spot to soak up the sun and feel like you’re basking on the Amalfi Coast, worlds away from the high-rises and concrete of the city. Nestled in the perfect location of Baker Street, the terrace has a pop-up cart so you can grab a delicious gelato while you meander along to Regent’s Park, or you can grab a seat and get comfortable for the duration.

The Interiors of the Kitchen at Holmes Terrace

White striped awnings lend a welcoming bit of shade for your alfresco experience, while beautiful green plants add a real sense of calm. Colourful cushions and flowers on tables complete the overall Mediterranean feel. Whether you’re stopping by for an afternoon treat, or looking to settle down for a drink, the gelato menu offers plenty of reasons to stay.

What’s on the Menu at the Kitchen at Holmes Terrace?

You can build your own affogato for £8 where you pick your gelato and add a topping, with the option to add a shot of Amaretto, Frangelico or Baileys too. Flavours include Sicilian Pistachio, Sea Salted Caramel, Cookies & Cream or Madagascan Vanilla.

There’s also a more grown-up way to enjoy Hackney Gelato. The menu features a selection of gelato cocktails, including a Sea Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, a Strawberries & Cream Margarita and the classic Sgroppino – a refreshing combination of sorbetto, vodka and Prosecco. Of course, you can also try both a cocktail and a gelato to get the full experience!

Other sweet treats include the Hackney Gelato Sundae which is a decadent offering of Hackney Gelato Madagascan Vanilla, salted caramel drizzle, hazelnut crumble & chocolate sauce, or a Hackney Gelato Brioche, where you can make your own ice cream sandwich with your choice of two flavours.

The Kitchen at Holmes Gelato Terrace is an easy choice for a relaxed summer catch-up, whether you’re meeting friends for an afternoon scoop, enjoying a cocktail in the sunshine or simply looking for a sweet stop while exploring Marylebone.

The Kitchen at Holmes Restaurant – What to Expect?

And with Kitchen at Holmes already known for its all-day dining, neighbourhood bar and modern European and Mediterranean-inspired food, the addition of Hackney Gelato gives the terrace another reason to visit this summer.

The Kitchen at Holmes restaurant is one of my favourite spots in London and is ideal for either a lunch with colleagues, or dinner with family and friends. The staff are some of the best I’ve ever experienced, being both friendly and knowledgeable, and every dish is cooked perfectly. The menu features a wide array of dishes, packed full of seasonal produce and Mediterranean influences cooked fresh in the open kitchen. Not only does this give you a chance to see what they’re making, but also fills the air with the most wonderful array of smells. This makes it near impossible to choose what to eat as you’ll want a bit of everything, but the team are on hand to advise you on their recommendations.

While summer is here, I recommend getting a main meal in the restaurant and ordering your dessert from the gelato terrace. It’s the perfect way to round off a meal. It’s also one of the best hotels in London to stay, with plenty of charm, quirky designs, and of course paying homage to the iconic Sherlock Holmes!

Hackney Gelato at Kitchen at Holmes is located on Baker Street, Marylebone and is available from 1st May until 30th September from midday to sunset.
