Review: Daniel Galvin Kensington Salon

Daniel Galvin – a salon you’ll return to time and time again

Sometimes, when looking for a hairdresser, you want something fancy, exciting and different. Other times you just want a cut that’s good- really good. That’s what I was looking for – and found – at Daniel Galvin.Daniel Galvin Hair salon
Now don’t get me wrong, Daniel Galvin offers an extensive menu of colours, cuts and treatments, but their cut really stood out for me.
There are four Galvin salons over London and I visited the Kensington branch, a little off of the main high street. Simplicity is key here and the service warm and friendly. Whilst holding a prestigious name above the door, there is no snootiness or presumptions, you are welcomed in as one of their own.

The salon has a bright and airy waiting room, a back room for washing and another room for the cutting. It’s basement is kitted out for larger groups such as hen parties and is very popular. There are eighteen hair stations in total and each has been carefully designed to fit in with the ‘home from away’ ambience. Daniel Galvin Hair salon
My stylist sat me down and asked what I wanted from my hair – (rescuing! was my reply). My tresses were dry and brittle and having quite thin hair anyway weren’t doing me any favours.

She had a good examine and asked how much I’d be happy to lose. We settled on a length and I’ll happily report she stuck to this length, unlike past experiences where an extra three inches has been chopped off.
An assistant led me to the back for a wash and deep-conditioning hair mask (which smelled utterly divine!) before the stylist chopped my locks. She added in layers, a neat side fringe and showed me how to style it so as to produce most volume. She was friendly, kind and knew exactly what she was doing.
The end result was amazing- my hair looked healthier than it had done in months and the style really suited my features. I wouldn’t hesitate to head here again for any sort of treatment, style or colour. Not only are they friendly and welcoming but prices are reasonable and you’re made to feel super special from the moment you enter the salon to the moment you leave.
