First Look: HipChips London’s first crisp cafe is coming to Soho

Date:

Summer is gone and here come those crisp winter mornings. Literally. In the case of Soho’s new Crisp Cafe HipChips…

Just when we thought the period of niche London eateries had reached its pinnacle (yes cereal cafe/ porridge cafe/ creme egg cafe we’re talking to you) along comes HipChips.

The newest addition the cult cafe scene, HipChips is solely a crisp eatery, serving five different types of crisps cut from a whole range of heritage potatoes including Highland Burgundy, Salad Blue, Pink Fir Apple, Shetland Black and Red Duke of York – it’s set to be a very colourful affair! But incase you’re picturing a forlorn looking bag of ready salted sitting waiting for you on a table, think again. The crisps will take on a similar stance to popular japanese restaurant Yo Sushi! with a crisp conveyor belt bringing the goodies to you. And not only will you be able to watch the crisps pass by right under your nose, but you will also be able to watch them being prepared and cooked as you wait.

In terms of dips, HipChips is set to offer so much more than your regular salsa and sourr cream. You can expect the likes of baba ghanoush, katsu curry, Moroccan yoghurt and pickled onion fondue – delish!

And if that is not all, HipChips are also ready and waiting to satisfy those with a sweet tooth, offering a whole range of ‘pudding’ crisps, coating them in sugar and cinammon rather than sale. These will be accompanied by tantilizing dips such as a salted caramel and rhubarb and custard.

To wash down all the salty and sweet goodness, a range of craft beers and wine will be available, as well as soft drinks too.

A small box of crisps with two dips is £4.50, a medium box with three dips will cost £6.75, and a large box with six dips will be £11.50.
