How Lighting Can Completely Transform Your Home

Date:

If you are looking to update your home, don’t underestimate the power of lighting. Here are some ways that lighting can completely transform your home…

Many of us take great joy in decorating our homes, and those of us with a less than creative mind enjoy hiring others to create something for us. Beauty is subjective, of course, and what is incredible to one person may turn another’s stomach. So we must plan something individual for our tastes and requirements. It sounds more comfortable than it is though. Once we have settled on colour schemes and furniture, however, there is the lighting to consider. There are so many options to choose from, but how does the lighting in our home make a difference?

Practical

At the top of the priority list when it comes to lighting is the practical side of things. Not only do we need to be able to see where we are going, but the lighting must always be safe. Taking care to gain a EICR installation report, means that you can be safe in the knowledge that the lighting won’t hurt you. EICR (electrical inspection condition reports) are always a great idea when renovating, or moving into a new property. It can save a lot of potential accidents.

Once you know that your lighting is going to work for you, it can change how you feel about a space. Knowing that you are going to be able to see what you are cooking and read the recipes, bring a sense of comfort to your home.

Mood

The term ‘mood lighting’ has been created through many years of people using this lighting to create an individual feel. It extends much farther than just a little soft lighting in your lounge. Creating a specific mood with lighting is an art and something that interior designers take much time over.

With the options available now the world is our oyster here, but trying different things, and being open-minded will help you conclude quickly. Imagine how it will feel relaxing in your newly decorated bathroom with the most exquisite light fittings that you have full control over.

Decoration

Sometimes lighting edges away from practicality and can be purely decorative. Placing a wall-mounted light display can change the whole decor with little effort. Sometimes adding to a theme or just being bold with a design can show off a room’s potential.

From neon signs and fairy lights to an incredible chandelier, you can pick anything you like and install it in your home. Why not treat yourself to a large light fitting, the one you thought was a little ‘overboard’? It’s your home so you should light it the way you wish even if that is a bit unusual.

You really shouldn’t underestimate the difference this aspect of home decor can make; there’s an art to lighting a room with lamps and installations that make us feel happy. Just taking the time to work out how these will fit into your overall esthetic is time well spent. Getting this right the first time isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible either.
