What Are False Lashes?
False lashes are the more common of the two options. The majority of you have used false lashes at some point and they are widely available. The great thing about false eyelashes is that you can apply them at home. This requires minimal skill and because there’s a strip of lashes together, you only need to worry about lining them up in the right place. They also tend to be far cheaper than eyelash extensions – but we’ll explain why in a moment.
Looking at the downsides of false eyelashes, they’re not a long-term solution. You can wear fake lashes for a day at most – some people only wear them for a few hours to go to a party or an event. Also, you can find lots of cheap products that make your lashes look super fake and unrealistic, ruining your look.
What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions also provide fake eyelashes, but they’re applied differently. Instead of getting a strip that’s stuck down, each lash is applied one by one. This needs to be done by a professional and they’ll use special lash glue to stick fake lash hairs to your existing eyelashes. As a result, it gives the appearance that your natural lashes have grown in length.
The biggest advantage of eyelash extensions is how natural they look. It genuinely seems like your lashes have grown and nobody can tell that they’re fake. Lash extensions also last for much longer – they stick around for the duration of your lash’s growth cycle. In most cases, this is around six weeks. So, you can have longer lashes for a longer period before getting them redone.
As you can predict, there are two key downsides to lash extensions when compared to false eyelashes. Unlike hair extensions, you can’t apply lash extensions at home. It’s a very finicky process so you have to go to a salon to get it done. Therefore, you’ll pay a lot more for lash extensions than false eyelashes.
False Lashes or Lash Extensions: Which Is Right For You?
Ask yourself one simple question to figure out which option is right for you:
Do you want to spend more money on semi-permanent long lashes or do you only care about extending your lashes for certain events?
If you’re fine with your natural lashes but want to give them a boost for parties or when you go out on a date, false lashes will suit you perfectly. On the other hand, if you’re self-conscious about your lashes and would love them to be long all the time, lash extensions are a far better option!
