Battersea Power Station’s unique glass elevator experience, Lift 109, will be transformed into a tranquil reading nook for a book tasting session with a difference this World Book Day. From the top of the London landmark’s north west chimney, visitors will be guided through a curated selection of books chosen by neighbourhood bookstore, Battersea Bookshop, before leaving with the title of their choice Sky High Reading Nook is the latest instalment of ‘Lift 109 Lates’, a series of special after-hours events hosted at the chimney lift experience.

Busy lifestyles often get in the way of opening up a new book – but this World Book Day, Lift
109 offers a solution. Visitors will be taken to new heights to enjoy a reading experience with
a difference, unlocking their literary cravings with London’s breathtaking skyline as a
backdrop.
The glass elevator will be transformed into a peaceful hideaway, offering an escape from busy
lives and busy minds, allowing readers to sit back, relax and revive the joy of discovering an
unputdownable book without everyday distractions and a 360-degree view of the London
skyline.
In the book tasting session visitors will be guided through a curated sample of four books
before walking away with the title they enjoy the most. Befitting the location and themed
around the London skyline, the taster selection, carefully curated by the experts at Battersea
Power Station’s Battersea Bookshop includes Brick Lane by Monica Ali, London Belongs
to Me by Norman Collins, Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch and Doing Time by Jodi
Taylor.
