Different Holiday Ideas For You To Consider After Lockdown

Date:

We will eventually be able to travel again, so why not get inspired? Here are some different holiday ideas for you to consider after lockdown…

If you have been looking for the holiday of a lifetime then maybe you should consider a real adventure. We aren’t talking five-star luxury and the odd excursion into the wild. This is full of excitement, being at one with nature and getting to the heart of a country’s culture.

Holidays are often thought of as relaxing. Some time to hit pause on the day to day stresses and sit back without a care in the world. However, the most popular destinations can become a little similar if you are staying in resorts, you also tend to get the tourists’ view of a country, not to the real heart of the place. A holiday should be about finding peace, but if you can use it to develop your personal growth too, you will come home relaxed and inspired.

There are lots of life-changing holidays to be found across the world if you take a step off the usual path and try something new. Here are a couple to inspire you!

Mountain biking in Nelson, New Zealand

Different Holiday Ideas For You To Consider After Lockdown

Nelson isn’t a well-known spot for the average tourist. However, it is incredible for mountain biking. It is also a wonderful town which offers some great cafes and bars. The people are really friendly and will all have a story to tell about the best trails they have found. One of the reasons Nelson is famous for Mountain biking is the opportunity to do some heli-riding. Heli-riding takes you and your bikes up in the sky, where you will then find the perfect location to ride. You will be dropped off by your pilot, and then it’s up to you to make your way back to the town.

You will need to have a moderate level of fitness and a basic understanding of mountain biking. It’s good to learn how to traverse different terrains you may encounter, such as roots and rocky surfaces. You’ll find lots of companies in your local area that can help you get to grips with it. However, you don’t need to take on any tricky terrain if you aren’t confident. Just enjoy the scenery and try out some gentle routes.

You also need to prepare yourself with the right first aid kit. If you are riding for a few days, then pack plenty of plasters and some flexiseq gel for any joint pain. Having a basic understanding of first aid will also be an advantage as it’s easy to slip on a trail and hurt yourself. This isn’t ideal if you are in a remote location. Once you have experienced the great outdoors, you can take the ferry across to the north island and enjoy the stunning scenery and sample one of the region’s famous Sauvignon Blanc vineyards.

Kayaking in Ottawa, Canada

Different Holiday Ideas For You To Consider After Lockdown

Another fantastic adventure holiday is kayaking, and one of the best places to do this is in Canada on the Ottawa river. When you think of kayaking you might picture huge rapids and massive waves, you’ll get all of this out of Ottawa but it’s known as being some of the safest waters for kayaking. There are multiple options which means all levels can have a go. It’s also a great place to meet some elite kayaking athletes, including Olympians. When the snow melts, it’s a playground for the top guns. Later in the year, you’ll find all kinds of families and pros, there are even some white water competitions that take place.

While you don’t need to be an expert kayaker, you do need to know how to swim and be confident in the water. Invest in some lessons before you go and pick up some techniques, you could even do a kayak training course which will teach you how to flip if you capsize.

If you find yourself exhausted by all the fun, you can head into the city and check out the incredible architecture. The National Gallery Of Canada is here too, so there is something for everyone, even those that like a little more culture. Canadians are friendly and will help you get to know the local area. The country also has some incredible food to sample, and the shopping is fantastic, especially if you are looking for deals on winter clothing!

All over the world, some great adventures are waiting for you, so find something you are excited about and incorporate it into your next trip. You’ll make memories that will last you a lifetime.
