Mariage Freres Terrace offers the perfect spot to be seen in the city this Autumn

If you are looking for the ideal spot to relax, and sip on tea-infused cocktails, then look no further than Mariage Freres Covent Garden…

2020 has been a year of uncertainty, and a year which has taught us to appreciate the small things that little bit more. As we are now allowed back out and about to restaurants and bars, many are shunning conglomerate chains for small independents. It is times like this that supporting the smaller businesses is more important than ever, and as is often found in situations like this, it is the independents who also treat you the best. We found this to more than true when heading to Mariage Freres Tea Emporium in Covent Garden, whose exemplary service, exceptional offerings and unbeatable location made for an afternoon we couldn’t wait to repeat.

Outdoor terraces in London groups of six Tier Two Lockdown

One of the world’s oldest purveyors of tea, originating in Paris 1854, Mariage Freres are best known for their knowledge of, and extensive range of teas. You can choose from over 1,000 different varieties of unique tea blends, with access to your own personal tea-expert to guide you. Or you can up this a notch – and after all, if there’s been a time to enjoy a cocktail over a languid lunch, this is it. Why not sit on Mariage Freres outdoor terrace and sip on their range of tea-infused cocktails?

As with everything that Mariage Freres does, their cocktail range is imbued with panache, delicacy and French flair. Expect glass teapots filled with the most tantalizing of tea-infused tipples, garnished with sprigs of lavender, rosemary or berries. The range includes the Tokyo Mojito, a twist on the classic summer cocktail with flavours of mint, lime, yuzu; and vibrant Violetta with floral and violet notes, as well as the Opéra Sunrise, a fruity green tea cocktail flavoured with red fruits and blueberries, basil, ginger and a little gin kick. It is evident just how much the flavours are carefully thought about in each cocktail and during our experience we were pleasantly surprised at just how easy they were to drink. They were soft and refreshing on the palate, with just enough of a kick to finish.

The Terrace itself is the perfect way to meet safely with friends – particularly now that Tier 2 lockdown has kicked in – in a relaxing yet atmospheric setting. You can order from their range of dishes and light bites including a Parisian afternoon tea, range of sandwiches, and tea-infused desserts. No matter which tickles your fancy, you’ll find no better spot to relax under the autumnal sun, soaking up the rays and enjoying a long overdue catch up with loved ones.
