Hot weather

One of the great things about Down Under is the fairly predictable weather for most of the year. In northern regions, the climate is tropical with a dry and rainy season and hot weather all year round. In more southern regions, the climate is more moderate with hot summers and relatively mild winters.

During peak seasons, temperatures can get extreme and you’ll be glad of air conditioning wherever you’re staying. Plenty of suncream and hydration are a necessity if you’re going during the height of summer.

Unique and exotic wildlife

You’ll likely have seen photos and videos of the extraordinary wildlife in Australia. With kangaroos, koalas, sharks, crocodiles, spiders and snakes, the country has some of the most unique and exotic ecosystems in the world. This is largely because of Australia’s separation from other land masses for millions of years.

Some creatures may be a little intimidating but, if you follow all the necessary precautions, you can admire these fascinating animals on land and in the sea safely. Many you’ll probably be glad not to come across though!

Beach life

Some of the main attractions of Australia are its beaches – all 12,000 of them! They are iconic and standout features across the country. The most famous include Bondi Beach in Sydney, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and Byron Bay in New South Wales, but there are so many more to explore during your visit.

The beach life isn’t just a tourist trap, it’s part of the way of life in Australia. Thanks to the warm climate in most regions, soaking up rays is one of the favourite pastimes for many locals. The surf culture is another vibrant scene with many people living by the sea and riding the waves.

Road trips

As one of the largest countries in the world and its own continent, Australia is a vast destination perfect for road trips. Tourists often travel from city to city rather than staying in one place because there’s so much to see and do. Regardless of the length of your visit, Australian holiday visas are a must but they’re easy enough to apply for online.

Crossing the country from one side to another is a mammoth journey but can provide one of the most fascinating adventures of your life. East to west or north to south, you can tailor your holiday exactly how you want it.

Rich culture and history

The country has been home to Indigenous Australians, also known as Aboriginals, for over 50,000 years. The land belongs to them, although people throughout history haven’t always respected this. Fortunately, their culture is now being preserved and promoted more than ever by the government of Australia and tourists should appreciate this too.

Many landmarks and monuments important to the Indigenous people are key tourist attractions, alongside cities founded and developed by white settlers from Britain. Exploring the story of Australia is a fascinating journey and one of the great draws of the country.
