Don’t Miss: Capilungo’s Italian-Inspired Carnevale Brunch This Weekend!

Covent Garden’s Capilungo is inviting Londoners to join them for a special celebration from 1–4 March, bringing the spirit of Italy’s beloved Carnevale and Martedì Grasso (Shrove Tuesday) festival to the heart of the city.

Capilungo will host a Carnevale Brunch, combining its renowned Italian-inspired brunch menu with a sweet tradition: a free portion of Chiacchiere, a crispy fried pastry traditionally enjoyed during Carnevale in Italy—Italy’s answer to Pancake Day!

This offers Londoners the perfect opportunity to experience the vibrant flavours and festive spirit of Italy as an alternate Pancake Day celebration. However, quantities are limited, and the pastry will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early!

Carnevale, a vibrant Italian festival preceding Lent, is celebrated with colourful parades, elaborate costumes, and indulgent food. Martedì Grasso (Fat Tuesday), the climax of Carnevale, is all about enjoying rich, decadent treats before the fasting season begins. This tradition is now coming to London with Capilungo’s exclusive brunch event, offering guests a taste of Italy’s festive flair.

Capilungo’s Italian-Inspired Brunch Menu

Capilungo’s recently launched brunch menu features bold Italian twists on brunch classics. Drawing inspiration from Lecce, a city in southern Italy, Capilungo’s dishes showcase the finest ingredients sourced directly from local farmers. Menu highlights include:

  • Eggs Benedict with Capocollo di Martina Franca – a specialty ham from Lecce
  • Focaccia Royale – smoked salmon and paprika hollandaise served on rosemary focaccia
  • Avocado on Toast – served on potato sourdough with whipped ricotta
  • Lemony Ricotta Toast with Smoked Salmon – a fresh and delicate flavour pairing
  • Basil Shakshuka – topped with Stracciatella Cheese, a delicacy from Lecce
  • French Toast – baked brioche with pistachio mascarpone cream, almonds, and seasonal berries

Capilungo’s Carnival Brunch offers a unique opportunity to savour the flavours of Italy’s Carnevale while enjoying the café’s authentic southern Italian hospitality. Guests can embrace this Italian tradition in Covent Garden, making it a perfect cultural experience to kick off the spring season.
