Forget Chasing the Northern Lights, This Unforgettable Experience Takes You Above Them…

The Yukon is offering travellers a spectacular new way to experience the Northern Lights, with the exclusive Aurora360 flight returning to the skies in February 2027, offering a break you will never forget.

Following strong demand for the inaugural experience, the private Air North charter will once again carry guests to around 30,000 feet, taking them above the Arctic Circle in search of the aurora borealis. It is a rare opportunity to see one of nature’s most mesmerising displays from an entirely different perspective.

What is the Aurora360 Experience?

Rather than relying on clear skies from the ground, the Aurora360 flight rises above the cloud cover, giving passengers an unobstructed view of the night sky. Every guest is guaranteed a window seat, meaning there is no need to jostle for position when the aurora begins to dance across the horizon.

The experience forms part of a new five-night Aurora360 Arctic Discovery – Winter Edition from Northern Lights Resort & Spa, with departures on 4–9 February and 6–11 February 2027.

Guests arriving on 4 February will spend four nights at Northern Lights Resort & Spa before their final night at Hyatt Place Whitehorse. The second departure begins with two nights at Hyatt Place Whitehorse, followed by three nights at the resort.

The two itineraries overlap between 6 and 8 February, allowing the Aurora360 flight to operate on whichever evening offers the strongest forecast for Northern Lights activity. It means the flight can be timed around the conditions rather than being tied to a fixed night.

What to Expect from the Aurora360 Package

The Aurora360 package has been designed as much around the Yukon itself as the spectacular flight. Included in the experience is a guaranteed window seat on the Air North Aurora360 charter, return flights between Vancouver and Whitehorse, accommodation, airport transfers and daily gourmet meals.

Guests can also spend evenings enjoying guided aurora viewing around the resort bonfire, with professional photography on hand to capture the experience.

Away from the night sky, the itinerary includes a visit to Yukon Wildlife Preserve and Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs, a snowmobile adventure and the chance to meet local sled dogs during the Husky Rush experience.

There is also an Aurora Basecamp BBQ lunch, complete with traditional maple toffee enjoyed around the fire, while winter clothing rental is provided throughout the stay.

Just 20 minutes from Whitehorse, Northern Lights Resort & Spa provides a secluded base from which to explore the Yukon wilderness. Guests stay in private chalets and can enjoy locally inspired cuisine before heading outside to watch the aurora around the fire pit. For an even more immersive experience, the resort’s Aurora Glass Chalets offer floor-to-ceiling views of the night sky from the comfort of your room.

“The Aurora360 Flight offers a completely different perspective of the Northern Lights,” says Tobias Barth, owner of Northern Lights Resort & Spa. “Experiencing the aurora from above the Arctic Circle before returning to the tranquillity of the resort to continue watching the skies makes this one of the most unique winter adventures anywhere in the world.”

How to Book the Aurora360 Experience

For travellers looking to combine the Aurora360 flight with a longer Canadian adventure, Canada As You Like It is offering a seven-night Yukon Northern Lights Resort & Spa Aurora360 holiday from £7,735 per person.

The package includes return international flights, two nights in Vancouver, four nights at Northern Lights Resort & Spa, one night in Whitehorse and the exclusive Air North Aurora360 flight. Guests can also upgrade to an Aurora Glass Chalet for an additional £745 per person.

What is the Yukon?

Situated in Canada’s far northwest, alongside Alaska, the Yukon is a vast wilderness destination where dramatic landscapes, wildlife and outdoor adventure take centre stage.

The territory is home to Mount Logan, Canada’s highest mountain, as well as the vast icefields of Kluane National Park and Reserve. Around 80 per cent of the Yukon remains wilderness, making it a remarkable destination for travellers looking to escape the crowds and experience the great outdoors.

Despite being roughly the same size as Spain, the Yukon is home to only around 46,000 people. Its wilderness supports huge populations of wildlife, including caribou, moose, bears and mountain sheep.

Getting to the Yukon

Whitehorse is well connected to major Canadian cities. Air North, Yukon’s airline, operates year-round services from Whitehorse to Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna and Edmonton, alongside seasonal services to Toronto and Ottawa via Yellowknife. The airline also provides connections to northern destinations including Dawson City, Old Crow and Inuvik.

Air Canada operates daily services from London to Whitehorse via Vancouver, while WestJet offers seasonal services from London via Calgary between June and early September.

With its combination of remote wilderness, winter adventures and some of the world’s most spectacular aurora viewing, the Yukon offers far more than a traditional Northern Lights escape. And with the Aurora360 flight, travellers can now experience the phenomenon from above the clouds as well as from the wilderness below. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.
