LA Suite West – A wellness Hotel with vegan afternoon tea and pure relaxation

Vegan afternoon tea, stylish rooms and a great location – La Suite West is a London Hotel with wellbeing in mind…

La Suite West is situated just outside the main centre of the city and a two minute walk from Hyde Park. It’s a stylish boutique hotel with 79 rooms and is decorated to be both sophisticated and contemporary, with dark, brooding walls and plush dark carpets. This feel extends to the rooms, which again, are decorated in monochrome tones and peppered with Japanese influences by designer Anouska Hempel.

While we normally indulge when heading to a Hotel stay, La Suite West enables you to do the opposite – and actually finish a stay healthier than you started it. They serve a delicious fully vegan afternoon tea in their restaurant, have a gym downstairs and are so close to Hyde Park it’s almost begging you to go for a run. (Though you certainly don’t have to.) Hop on a bus right outside and you’ll soon find yourself in Oxford Street where a host of more gluttonous eateries can be found.

We stayed in a junior suite room. The size is good for this part of London and it features a comfortable double bed, table, chairs and heated floor. A novelty highlight is a table at the foot of the bed that produces a television when a remote is pressed. You’ll find complimentary water in your fridge, filter coffee and tea bags on the side and White Company toiletries in the beautiful marble bathroom. If you’re heading over from abroad you can utilise your electrics with UK, US and EU plug sockets, handy if you’ve forgotten your adapter.

The Hotel is a wine free place making it ideal for a detox and if you’re in the mood to treat yourself (yet still keeping healthy) the vegan afternoon tea is an absolute must. Expect a range of vegan sandwiches from roast tomato and sunflower seed pesto to vegan cheese and cucumber, accompanied by warm scones with jam and coconut ‘cream’ and a selection of vegan cakes to finish.

A glass of healthy (non-alcoholic) ‘fizz’ on arrival furthers the feel of a treat.

Continuing its wellness-orientated focus, it has a new breakfast menu too, offering superfoods and products which are additive, egg and preservative free, high in vitamin content and natural flavoured with dairy and gluten free options. There are also a range of raw foods and options on offer and all can either be eaten in the restaurant or taken away. If you fancy something else to eat, there are also a great selection of all your breakfast favourites including pancakes, croissants and pastries as well as cereals and juices.

It’s a refreshing break to find a Hotel that combines wellbeing and indulgence, for normally the two are different ends of the scale. Stuff your face with vegan afternoon tea, relax on the squishy duvet and enjoy a leisurely walk in the sunshine around Hyde Park. It’s a great base for staying in the city and somewhere which is both feel-good and practical without an astronomical price tag to match.
