SuperCulture are hosting a Frida Kahlo life drawing party on Saturday 16th June at The Book Club in Shoreditch where you can enjoy cocktails, sketching and jazz music.
The annual event is held by Art Macarbe in the bars atmospheric basement and guarantees great fun as well as the chance to truly get creative. This year, it coincides with the opening week of the V&A’s blockbuster Frida Kahlo exhibition. London’s cult life drawing colllective Art Macabre present a life drawing exploration of the vision and legacy of Frida.
Exploring her unique Surrealist vision of pain, pleasure and passion, we will have two models, posing as contrasting aspects of Frida Kahlo’s character and viewpoint. Recreating some of her self-portraits and paintings with flesh, flora, fruit and skulls.
From “Exquisite Corpse” drawing game warm ups to collage materials available to capture the colourful expressiveness of her art, they have said they will do their best to conjure up the weird and wonderful world of Frida Kahlo at this workshop.
Grab a mezcal Margarita from The Book Club bar upstairs and sketch to a soundtrack of Mexican folk, mariachi music and jazz beloved by her.
Over 18s only. Basic drawing materials and paper are provided, along with some collage materials. But do feel free as ever to bring your own favourite supplies to work with too!
