Whether you are heading to Baltimore this weekend, or you are already there, Honfest is something you need to check out…
Baltimore is a colourful and diverse city based on the East Coast of America and is Maryland’s largest city and economic hub. It is famous for its beautiful harbour, colourful neighbourhoods and world-class museums – a destination that has so much to give. Deemed one of America’s greatest historical locations, it has an astonishing total of 187 neighbourhoods. And whether you are heading there this weekend, you live there or are already taking a vacation, you need to check out the annual festival of HonFest – a celebration honouring the city’s quirk, charm, eccentric outfits, and strong working women.
HonFest is set to run from the 8th to the 9th of June 2019 and is set in the charming neighbourhood of Hampden. This year’s celebrations will be their 26th year and will continue to honour Baltimore’s roots with eccentric outfits, food and music. There is so much to do, see and take in at this annual festival and it is a real symbol of the charm and goodwill that lies within the hearts of those who live, work and play in Baltimore.
Since its conception in the year 1994, HonFest has grown from a tiny Baltimore’s Best Hon pageant to a nationally recognised festival, working on embodying the warmth and affection bestowed upon the city’s women, paying homage to the strong female working characters who call the city home. The festival covers four city blocks along the Hampden neighbourhood and features three different stages of live music, dozens of food vendors, an oyster shucking contest and, of course, the famous signature best hon pageant.
And the best bit? The festival is totally free! Just turn up between the 9th-9th June 2019 and have the best time listening to over 26 live artists and browsing the local street vendors. Find out more and plan your visit here.
