Banana Boat Aloe Vera Gel – the best beauty secret I’ve ever accidently stumbled across.
While there’s certainly no craze or celebrity endorsements over the after sun gel, the product is an underrated gem you need to have in your cupboard. Here we take a look at Banana Boat aloe vera gel – the best beauty secret you need in your skincare routine…
What it is
I accidentally came across the product a while ago when searching for skincare online. Admittedly it isn’t actually advertised as anything but a cure for a bad sunburn, but the reviews on YouTube are absolutely glowing. The contents contain pure aloe vera leaf juice, it’s said to be good for eczema and psoriasis. Immediately like any beauty junky, I was intrigued by the claims from girls reporting their acne and breakouts had vanished.
The findings
The first thing I noticed about the gel was the colour, it’s the brightest green liquid I’ve ever seen aside from cough syrups, it’s also got a strong smell to it that reminds me of insect repellent. Not necessarily a bad smell and once I applied it to my face it faded very fast. I applied a pretty generous layer before my moisturizer at night.
I have to admit, when I woke up in the morning I was eager to see my own reflection. I’m prone to waking up with breakouts, well if there’s one thing I can say about Banana boat,it’s that it does actually work overnight! I didn’t have any new breakouts and my previous ones had rapidly diminished. Once I started using it nightly, by the end of the month, old acne scars that used to be visible on my olive skin had almost completely vanished.
I find myself using the gel regularly for dry skin and stretch marks. It’s rare for me to find a product that I can’t fault. Banana boat has firmly rooted itself into my skincare routine and won’t be going anywhere for a long, long time.
