Celebrate Chinese New Year at Hutong in the Shard

Hutong invites you to celebrate the Chinese New Year…

Whilst our New Years might be over, the prosecco popped, streamers binned and cocktail sausages demolished, there is still another new years celebration to look forward to – the Chinese New Year.

Hutong Chinese New Year

If you’re looking for a memorable way to see in the year of the Rooster, Hutong – the award winning Chinese restaurant on level 33 of the Shard is celebrating on the 28th January with an exceptional evening of fine food and entertainment.
Their menu will be drawing inspiration from Chinese traditions, serving a special ‘Double Happiness’ set four course menu priced at £88 – inspired by the special tradition in China of 8 being the luckiest number.
It will feature a plethora of delicious offerings, such as the customary Lo Hei mixed raw seafood salad accompanied by a sweet plum sauce. This will be eaten with the traditional mixing together of the ingredients – everyone calls out “Lo Hei” (meaning to mix it up, but also sounding like “to prosper more and more”) whilst tossing the ingredients high in the air. Each order of this will also include a pair of extra-long chopsticks.

Other dishes, (whilst not as fun) are equally as delicious, including the Shanghai wonton in chicken broth, Jasmine tea roasted chicken and Huton’s halibut fillet in spicy chilli brote. Dessert is mango pudding – another Chinese delicacy.

And that is not all. The fine food and sizzling smells will be accompanied by a traditional lion dance to ward off evil spirits as well as Chinese musicians and noise-makers. A Chinese calligrapher will also be creating personalised items for guests to take away, and all guests will receive a traditional red pocket envelope containing gifts and treats.

As an extra special finale, Hutong will also offer special Year of the Rooster wishing cards and the traditional candy box and one lucky table will receive their entire bill complimentary.
