As 2021 draws to a close, it has me looking back at my skincare journey. Lockdown had me trying a myriad of things – face masks in a pack, face packs from a bottle, homemade face masks and face masks in a gel. Yet while they (some more than others) had an effect, this was often short-lived. I have my wedding coming up in December and I wanted to try something that would really give my skin the oomph it needed. That could erase the lines under my eyes and give me a much-needed glow. I didn’t want to try anything surgical, but I wanted something that would pack a little more of a punch than what I was already using. Which is how I came across CACI. A favoured treatment by many celebrities such as Emma Stone and Jennifer Lopez prior to walking on the red carpet, it promises a “non-surgical facelift.” And let’s face it, if it’s good enough for JLO, it’s good enough for anyone.
CACI (Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument) essentially uses a host of small electrical impulses at an ultra-low frequency in order to stimulate all of the 32 muscles in your face. The light combined with the microcurrent facial toning helps to repair collagen, regenerate skin tissue, peel, cleanse, tone and aid with lines and wrinkles. As I did my research prior to the treatment I was sceptical that anything that good didn’t come with any side effect or a nasty surprise. Could it be true? Was CACI really as good as it seemed?
I had my CACI treatment at the Lisa Franklin Clinic Privé in London, a luxury private aesthetic clinic in the heart of Knightsbridge, Chelsea. It’s easy to get to and once you arrive you feel more like you are entering a luxury hotel than a treatment clinic. Too many treatment places can seem clinical and cold, lending the same feeling of when you are heading for a routine dentist appointment. This was far from it. Plush carpet lined the floor, with plush furnishing in soft pink, cream and grey. The air smells of luxurious reed diffusers and plants lend splashes of green to the room. I’m led to my treatment room and am in awe of just how stunning it is.
A large space flooded with natural light, it is glamorous, soothing and relaxing all at the same time. Again, each aspect has been designed expertly, with a soft colour scheme in tones of blush, grey, white and gold, with the sun washing a warm glow from floor to ceiling. I climb into a sumptuously soft treatment bed with plush covers and a base so soft it could envy the one I have at home. My therapist took me through what the treatment would entail, stating that at certain points it might feel a little uncomfortable, but it wouldn’t hurt. Each CACI treatment is bespoke, tailored to your skin type and the results you are looking to achieve.
As stated above, the CACI system incorporates 4 different technologies within one state of the art treatment, Microcurrent, Ultrasonic Peel, Hydratone and LED Light Therapy photostimulation. The system utilises a special ultrasonic handset that vibrates at 27,000 vibrations per second on the skin surface to exfoliate and deep cleanse the epidermis. My treatment began with a gentle exfoliation with the wand across my skin, before moving on to tackling the different problem areas using the innovative CACI technology. The process was painless and relaxing to an extent. It wasn’t so much so that I could fall asleep during the treatment, but it wasn’t in any way uncomfortable.
After the treatment had finished I had time to stay in the treatment room and relax to the background music, sip a herbal tea and read a copy of Vogue placed on the table. It’s such a calm and relaxing space that it’s difficult to haul myself up and back to the office. I head over to the dressing area where I observe my face in the mirror and am surprised to see a difference. The difference is subtle, but effectively so. I don’t look like I’ve had a round of plastic surgery, but I look like me on my very best day. As if I’ve had weeks of uninterrupted sleep, drank more than enough water and have had no stress in my life whatsoever. The lines under my eyes – which are my main point of concern are much less prominent as are those on my forehead. Where I have been experiencing makeup sinking into some of my lines prior to the treatment, when I apply foundation the next day it sweeps on effortlessly, staying on much better throughout the day. My skin looks brighter, plumper, softer. I feel more confident in my skin than I have done in a long time and as I walk back to the station make-up free, it doesn’t phase me in the same way as it normally would. CACI facial treatments are high-tech and suited for all skin types, treating a wide range of skin issues and leaving you feeling like a new person. The Lisa Franklin Clinic Privé exceeded all expectations and was one of the most impressive places I have been for a treatment in the capital.
