Top reasons you should choose a holiday rental over a hotel

Looking for your next holiday to Portugal? We’ve put together the top reasons you should choose a holiday rental over a hotel (you can thank us later…!)

Portugal is a stunning holiday destination all year round. With culture, history and beautiful beaches, there truly is something for everyone. And this is also true of accomodation. When choosing a holiday, the two main accommodation choices are either a Hotel or a Holiday rental and it can be hard to choose between the two. Hotels are great if you want something busy with an atmosphere, but holiday rentals offer a lot more chilled and flexible solution. With a holiday rental, you can enjoy an entire space to yourselves, perhaps with a private pool, hot tub and BBQ area and not have to share the space with anyone. They provide a whole plethora of benefits for your trip. We have put together the top reasons you should choose a holiday rental over a hotel here…

Better Costs

When heading to Portugal, a holiday home rental can end up being a lot cheaper than a Hotel and actually much nicer. This is particularly true if you have a group of you as you can split the cost between you rather than paying individually for each room on the property. You can also create your own food and drinks which drastically brings down the cost and if you have a car, many come with free car parking spaces as opposed to Hotels which often charge a lot for parking.

Larger Space

The average Hotel room is 350 feet, but with a holiday rental, you get the luxury of accessing the whole place. Rather than being confined to just a bedroom, you normally have four or five rooms, including a lounge, kitchen, dining room and other spaces. Plenty of holiday homes in Portugal also include their own private pool which you don’t have to share with others. This gives you more space for you and your party to enjoy without having to worry about other guests!

More Freedom

In a Hotel you are often stuck with the set times of things – drinks are served until a certain time, meals are certain hours, the pool closes at a specific time etc. however when you have your own holiday home you get to make these rules yourself. You can eat when you want, swim when you want and drink when you want. Hotels also often come with dining packages which means you stay eating there the whole time. With a holiday home, you are more likely to head out, explore and experience the local cuisine.

They Offer The Comforts Of Home

Hotels can often feel a little clinical, where each room is the same and only holds the basic necessities. Holiday Homes are much better at encapsulating that cosy vibe, with little knick-knacks, pieces of art and comfortable furniture that allows you to truly relax. They also come equipped with everything you might need, including crockery, dishwashers, sun loungers (which you don’t have to fight over) and plenty of space for everyone in your group to relax together. You can all have film nights or Barbeques without the area being too small or overrun with others.

Great Location

A holiday home is great for experiencing new places as they could be in more rural or hidden locations than Hotels as they are a lot more conspicuous. They offer the chance to explore new towns and villages, get off the beaten path and really immerse yourself in the local culture. As you are also more likely to have a car, you also have the freedom to drive out and explore other areas. You can drive to the beach, large town centres, to museum and attractions… the world is your oyster!

These are just some of the reasons you should choose a holiday rental over a Hotel for your next break to Portugal…
