‘Board’ games quickly become ‘bored games’? Here’s something new to try…

Date:

If the last few weeks have taught us one thing, it’s the importance of playing games with your family – yet the classics can get old fast. Here are some new board games from Clarendon Games to try…

You’ve outplayed your family at Monopoly, you’ve figured out every possible word combination from your rack of Scrabble letters and you have mastered the art of espionage with Codenames. We’re all looking for a new challenge (that isn’t Zoom quiz) and here is where Clarendon Games steps in. Founder, Will Sorrell, has created a collection of board games and card games designed to be fun, fast paced and that rely more on skill than luck. Here are a few of our favourites:

What to play now

Wordsmithery – guess the meaning of words that you pretend to understand when you really have no idea. But don’t worry, it’s multiple choice with three possible options from which to choose.

Einstein Eats Eggs – if you like charades, this is one for you. Inside the box are 1, 200 alliterative phrases like the ‘colossal chickens clucked’. Your job is to describe them without saying any of the words on the cards and to get your team to guess as many of the phrases as possible.

Brain Elixir – Brain Elixir is exactly what it says on the tin. Keep your brain ticking through lockdown as you solve lateral thinking riddles. You can play with 2+ players so whether you’re on lockdown with parents and siblings or just a partner, you can still play!

Imposter – Imposter is a lively after-dinner game where you use debate, bluff and logic to win points. Genuine guests will try to unmask the imposters, while imposters have to try and avoid detection. This game is great for the whole family and guarantees plenty of laughs along the way!
