Cocktails at the Sky Pod Bar post lockdown review

Date:

Try something new this week and enjoy some Cocktails at the Sky Pod Bar, in the Sky Garden…

If you’re yet to visit London’s highest public garden – the Sky Garden, for cocktails or dinner, then it’s time you do! Having re-opened on the 3rd July, the experience is just as exciting as pre-COVID but with a couple of changes to make sure you are safe, whilst following the Government guidelines (Sky Garden, COVID FAQ’s). We decided to venture back into London to experience some cocktails in their world-renowned cocktail bar, known as the Sky Pod Bar.

The Sky Pod bar is one of the hottest cocktail bars in London, thanks to it’s towering views of the capital and beautiful gardens which are the highest public gardens in Europe! The garden is a botanical paradise, with floor to ceiling windows allowing natural light to flood in, transforming to the perfect nightscape in the evening.

Cocktails at the Sky Pod Bar

Situated amongst the Gardens is the Sky Pod Bar, a spot designed to tick all the boxes. An all-day, drinking, and dining space that is spacious yet luxurious, alluring, and exciting, it’s somewhere you can forget all about the hustle and bustle of London. Enjoy a lunchtime cocktail while the sun shines in, the views of London at your feet, or an evening tipple with your friends, the sparkling lights of the city below.

The mixologists at the Sky Pod Bar, have put together a summer cocktail menu to compliment the season. The menu contains seven different cocktails which might seem like a select offering, but each packs a punch to your taste buds leaving you only wanting more. If you fancy something different, the mixologists can create you a classic cocktail for you to enjoy – just speak to your waiter and they will ask the team to make it for you. Kangaroo Paw Left, Garden Rum Cup RightFor our first cocktails at the Sky Pod Bar, we opted for the garden rum cup (£13.50) and kangaroo paw (£13.50) each cocktail was tantalizing and irresistible in their own right, the garden rum cup, a perfect infusion of fruits, with a good level of strength with the rum, the Angostura Bitters balancing the cocktail nicely. The kangaroo paw was a blackberry gin-based cocktail, mixed with Absolut Kurant Vodka, Blood Orange, Mint, Lime & Fever-Tree Soda. Served with ice, it was refreshing, strong and fruity, a great way to start the evening off.

For the second tipple, we thought we would see the evening off with something sweet but fun to drink so we both opted for the Lemon & vanilla cheesecake (£13.50). Initially, we thought this would be a long drink, but on arrival, it turned out to be a short cocktail. By the first sip, you could see why! Bursting with flavour, it was the perfect combination of strength and sweet, tasting as you would expect – a dessert! There was no dilution of the ingredients in this cocktail.

Sky Garden London Review

Having cocktails at the Sky Pod Bar was better than expected and everything you would want from a post lost down experience. The whole experience was easy, they were letting enough people in but without it becoming too crowded, keeping to social distancing rules. There were one way systems in place, masks were mandatory for the public spaces and hand sanitizer was compulsory on entry. We could not find a fault with the cocktails, and the view, well that just sells itself. It is an excellent way to enjoy a night out without feeling too uncomfortable about your surroundings and feeling at ease during this unprecedented time.
